Racial Justice Director
Position Opening

YWCA Metro St. Louis is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural women’s organization
providing high quality programs and advocacy initiatives working toward the
elimination of racism and creating opportunities for the empowerment of youth
and women.

YWCA seeks an experienced, results-oriented professional to direct the expansion
of racial justice programs and community initiatives. The successful candidate
will have a strong understanding of race, racism and the impact it has on our
society and is one who has a broad knowledge of best practices related to anti-
racism, inclusion and multi-cultural competencies.  The candidate must
demonstrate a commitment to advocacy and racial equity. Qualifications also
include 3 to 5 years of demonstrated program development, project
management, group training and facilitation and leading groups through
experiential and transformational learning, as well as exceptional written and
oral presentation skills.  YWCA seeks a self-starter with excellent ability to
effectively work with diverse populations and develop community partnerships.  
Proficient use of Microsoft Office is required.

Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Master’s Degree preferred.  
Plus Relevant Racial Justice experience required.
SCOPE OF WORK

The Racial Justice Director will expand current YWCA initiatives, develop and
implement additional programming, internally and for targeted audiences in the
St. Louis community. The Director will collaborate with other organizations,
groups, and systems to implement comprehensive anti-racism programs,
advocacy initiatives and activities that achieve measurable results.

Current YWCA programs offer a continuum of services that lead to greater
economic and social empowerment of women, youth and families. Core
programs include economic stability and transitional housing, child care/Head
Start, youth leadership development and sexual assault prevention/intervention.  
Every YWCA program has an anti-bias component, and models the value and
celebration of diversity.

YWCA Associates developed the “Power of One” diversity training model that is
used during the employment orientation process for all new staff members.  
Associates also participate in a minimum of four (4) hours of racial justice
training each year as part of the YWCA’s staff development program.  YWCA
internal policies and practices are aligned with the Association’s commitment to
inclusion and racial justice.
